The sucker rod couplings are used for connecting sucker rods, polished rods and sinker bars.. Sucker Rod Couplings are manufactured from quenched and tempered alloyed steels.
They are available in reduced slim hole (SH) diameters as well as normal full size (FS) for both API Class T(through-hardened) and Class SM (Spray Metal).SM Class coupling has a spray-welded metal layer on the surface. The appearance is silver-white generally, the surface hardness is high, and the wear resistance and corrosion resistance are relatively good.Compared with T Class couplings, SM Class couplings have the following features:
(1) High surface hardness and good wear resistance
According to SY/T 5029-2013, the surface hardness required for T Class couplings is HRA56~62, and the metal hardness of the spray welding layer of SM Class couplings is ≥595HV0.2.
(2) The surface finish is high. The surface roughness required for T Class coupling is ≤ 3.2, and that of SM Class coupling is ≤ 1.6
